The Illusionists

The Illusionists

Samson Abakpa is an artistic director of a theatre company whose marriage is on the brink of collapse as a result of his preference for Royal, a fellow member of the company. Dissatisfied with the double life he is living, he approaches his wife for a separation. In her desperation to salvage her marriage and safeguard the future of their two daughters, she embarks on a line of action that is to change the entire course of her life. Set in contemporary times, The Illusionists is a story of sexuality and the inherent tensions dissonant sexual orientations have on marriages. 'Brilliantly crafted, as stinging as it is a forewarning in its thrust. Timely, telling ...' - Uche Peter Umez – 'The Illusionists explores the complex lives of people living on the margins who struggle to create moments of meaning in a social environment that erects seemingly insurmountable obstacles. A gripping drama of chaos and marital dysfunction.' - Ada Agada - 'The dramaturgy is impressive, the language is commendable.' - Sule Egya - Published by Ogbome Publishers & Theatre, Nigeria 2023, Suite 11, Y.
